Advadraw - Capilliary Action Dressing

Summary

An absorbent, low adherent primary wound contact layer with a wicking effect. "Rapid capilliary Action". The dressing comprises of a soft viscose and polyester mechanically bonded centre. THose familiar with the older Vacutex will see some resemblance. However, unlike the Vacutex, each face of the dressing is backed with a perforated permeable wound contact layer. This helps to prevent the dressing from adhereing to a wound surface.

Fluid from the wound bed is rapidly absorbed into the pad and distributed by the central layer resulting in gentle capillary pressure gradient that drives sustained movement of exudate from a wound bed. Sustained movement of fluid from the wound bed will deslough and debride wounds and help remove bacteria.

[features]

  • Rapid absorption
  • Draws in exudate
  • Capillary action

How to Use

[how to use]

Advadraw is placed (either side down) onto the wound surface; dressings can be placed side-by-side to coer large wound areas and layered to optimise absorbency.

Advadraw can be cut to size ensuring that sharp scissors are used. Those familar with Vacutex may have used special scissors to cut. Specific scissors are not necessary to cut Advadraw, just gular well maintained scissors.

Depending on the tissue type within the wound bed and exudate levels your secondary dressing of choice could be a film dressing, bandage and/or tape. If minimal exudate is present a non-adherent wound bed contact layer may be used in between Advadraw and the wound bed.

[frequency of change]

Depending on wound exudate levels, any surrounding interstitial fluid, oedema and number of layers used, Advadraw may initially require changing daily but can be extended and left in place for up to 7 days. Advadraw will need changing when the top outer layer becomes saturated to the dressing margins.
