Eclypse Adherent - highly absorbent, gentle silicone primary dressing

Summary

Eclypse Adherent is designed to combine Eclypse exudate management technology with a Silfix® Soft Silicone Layer.

Silfix®

This is a multi-layered primary wound dressing composed of Silflx® soft silicone which adheres only to normal healthy skin, a fabric for rapid absorption of fluid, a super absorbent XU-Lock™ central layer for superior fluid management and a breathable polyethylene protective backing. Eclypse has a very high capacity and uniquely converts all fluid into a moist gel to reduce potential maceration whilst preventing strike-through.

[features]

  • Highly absorbent
  • High capacity
  • Reduce protential fluid leaks
  • Reduce risk of maceration
  • Promotes and maintains a moist environment crucial to wound healing
  • Blue backing prevents strike-through onto cloths and bandages, as well as reducing friction
  • Uses Pass-Through® backing, a backing with a high moisture vapour transfer rate
  • The silicone contact layer selectively clings to the surrounding skin without adhering to the moist fragile wound bed allowing atraumatic removal, adjustment or wound inspection

[fewer changes]

12 patients, with high levels of exudate, were referred to the wound care service at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. They were selected for the evaluation. The Eclypse dressing pad was evaluated on its exudate management properties, conditions of the surrounding skin, wound management/deterioration, patients’ quality of life, frequency of dressing change, nursing time utilised, patient perception and comparison to previous dressing used. Wound assessment evaluation forms and photography were used throughout.

Of the twelve cases presented, the results are the following:
