Silflex

Summary

A wound contact layer made from polyester mesh and coated with Silfix® soft silicone. Silflex is designed to gently adhere to the skin surrounding a wound and not to the wound bed. This is an atraumatic dressing which means it is designed to minimise the pain and trauma associated with dressing change. The dressing allows the passage of exudate.

Silfix®

[features]

  • Non-adherent to the moist wound
  • Atraumatic soft silicone, reduced pain on dressing change
  • Allows passage of exudate
  • Hydrophobic Silfix® soft silicone coating
  • Soft and conformable

Siltex was renamed to Silflex to enable world wide trade marking by the manufacturer Advancis Medical. The product Silfelx (formerly Siltex) is otherwise identical. It is not Mepitel. Mepitel is the trade mark for a differnt silicone based wound contact layer made by Molnlycke, a well respected dressing manufacturer. Silflex has some similarities such as 14 day wear time with Mepitel however it has a number of differences as well.
